Homeless Committee

Purpose: To help individuals and families who are on the fringe of the homeless community in Montgomery County. We work with the County Coalition for the Homeless to prevent families from falling into homelessness and to provide mentoring to families with children.

Activities (past and present): Congregants provide hot meals and staff for homeless families in a temporary shelter at a county senior center. Tikvat Israel has provided funds directly to families for rent to prevent eviction. We also work with Stepping Stones Shelter to provide food and support. We have provided volunteers during Christmas time to relieve the staff at the shelter.

Seeking new members: Not until we have a project.
