Rosh Hodesh Nissan Study Group
The Tikvat Israel Sisterhood Roch Hodesh Study Group is now into it's fourth year. For the next year or so, our focus will be on the Shabbat morning liturgy, beginning with the Shema.
The Rosh Hodesh Nissan Study Group will meet on Wednesday night, April 5th, after evening minyan. The topic is:
Everything You Wanted to Know About Judaism Can be Learned Through the Shema!
The Shema is a central prayer in Jewish liturgy. By reading just its first paragraph, we can learn all about what it means to be a Jew and about our relationship to G-d & to each other. Together we will explore the Shema and uncover its many meanings.
This is a continuation of an active discussion that we had at our Rosh Hodesh Study Group over the past two months, where we covered aspects of the first 2 verses recited during the Shema.
When I prepared for our first session in Shevat, I expected that we would study the Shema, Baruch Shem Kavod, and the V'ahavta. Instead we spent 1-1/2 hours just on the first two lines - and it was wonderful.
If you would like to prepare for the next session (whether you were present at the Shevat session or not), we will discuss the second major paragraph, after the Ve'ahavta, starting with V'Haya. Contact Arlene Berger with any questions.
