Fifth Grade - Hey
Surveys Jewish history from its beginning through present-day Israel, culminating in an exciting field trip to participate in a program about Israel, sponsored by the Board of Jewish Education. Bible study focuses on King David and King Solomon. Students improve reading fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension through their study of the Hebrew language and tefilah (prayer) using the Siddur (prayer book). A highlight of the fifth grade is an overview of the Hebrew calendar, with an emphasis on each holiday as it occurs. Students lead a Kabbalat Shabbat (Friday night) service and perform a Purim Shpiel, a funny play with very creative dramatics, for their families. Fifth graders have two field trips to Ring House at Chanukah and Purim to sing with and perform for the senior citizen residents.
Schedule: Sundays from 10 am - 12 noon; Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:15 - 6:15 pm
