Focus Music: Joe Crookston

Joe Crookston is a songwriter, guitarist, painter, fiddler, slide player, eco-village member and believer in all things possible. He will perform at Tikvat Israel October 21 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $18 in advance / $20 at the door.

Joe’s music swirls with themes of lightness, darkness, clocks ticking, fiddle looping, weeping willows, slide guitar bending, cynicism, hope, and the cycles of life and rebirth. If you love a moving song and musical madness, Joe Crookston delivers it all, the melodies, the lyrics, the energy, and a deep passion for exceptionally well-written songs.

Named 2016 Folk Alliance International Artist-in- Residence and signed to Tamulevich Artist Management along with John Gorka and Peter Yarrow. He’s played with Suzanne Vega, Dar Williams, David Francey, John McCutcheon, Judy Collins and 100 more. His songs are cinematic and are being made into award winning films.

He’ll  surprise you and awaken the cynics. He’s plumbing for lyrical gold like a social archaeologist. His songs are universal, his rhythm infectious and in concert, he is funny as hell one moment and transcendent the next.

Join us for an evening of fiddle, slide, hilarious stories, beautiful visual artwork, universal songs, lush orchestral folk and pure music magic. You will leave feeling more awake and inspired. With a renewed sense of what’s possible. You’ll be so glad you came. Promise.

The FOCUS event will be staged at Tikvat Israel; light refreshments will be available for purchase during intermission. Advance tickets are available through FOCUS’s website.  FOCUS member pricing for tickets purchased at the door will be extended to Tikvat Israel members.

FOCUS is a non-profit organization whose mission “is to bring folk and acoustic music to a growing audience through performance, education and participation in the musical folk art.” Tikvat Israel and FOCUS have agreed to a partnership to bring folk music concerts to Tikvat Israel and the Montgomery County community.
