Congregants to Discuss Chilling Film on Global Warming

The newly formed Tikvat Israel Environmental Task Force will hold a screening of the documentary film, "An Inconvenient Truth," following evening minyan on Tuesday, Oct. 24 in the sanctuary. The showing will begin at about 8 p.m., and congregants of high school age and older are welcome.

Gallery Space Open for Art Viewing

Following its Grand Opening, Tikvat Israel's Gallery Space is open for viewing and looks forward to welcome many congregants in the coming weeks. The new art gallery and boutique, located in the synagogue's lobby, is displaying various artwork by nearly a dozen local Jewish artisans.

The Gallery Space will be open from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesdays, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and 6-9 p.m. on Thursdays for the remainder of September. Due to the High Holidays, scheduling of regular daytime hours in October and beyond have not been finalized.

Tikvat Israel congregant Cliff Fishman qualified for the third round of a Toastmasters International speech contest, winning both the humor speech and extemporaneous speech categories in the Toastmasters Area 53 competition on Sept. 26.

Husband-Wife Pair To Be Honored on Simchat Torah

Sam Freedenberg, the chair of Tikvat Israel's Religious Practices Committee, called it "a slam dunk" - the decision to fete Terry Horowit and Jim Hendler as "Kallah Bereshit" and "Hattan Torah," respectively, on Simchat Torah 5767.
