Purim Unleashes Creativity in Puppetry and Shpiel.........posted Feb 21, 2007

From the same deranged congregants who brought you "Horton is a Jew," "Dayo" (a/k/a "Too Much Herring at the Kiddush Luncheon"), "NYPD Jew" and John Melmed as a beauty pagent contestant, the 2007 Purim Shpiel is in the planning and practice stages at Tikvat Israel, ready for the one and only performance on Purim eve.

The theme will be related to secret agent James Bond -- but not the Bond you've come to know and love on the silver screen. This Bond is more suave, more clever... and he's certified kosher, according to Jonathon Solomon, chief creator of the perennial shpiel.

The show takes place on Saturday night, March 3, right after the Purim puppet show in the social hall and the megillah reading in the sanctuary.

The puppet show, consisting of tall stick puppets, tells the Purim tale in a lively and comical way.

"Be there or be triangle!" Solomon says.
