TI Hoopsters Open Season With Optimism.........posted Jan 2, 2007

With some new talent on the court and on the bench, the Tikvat Israel men's basketball team inaugurates its 10th season of play in the Montgomery County Synagogue League with a healthy dollop of optimism.

The TI team will play a nine-game regular season schedule on Sunday mornings beginning Jan. 7 against B'nai Shalom of Olney. All games will be played at Magruder High School with 8:30, 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. starting times.

Coach Warren Berger said he is "looking forward to this year, with one player returning after a one-year absence (Jon Urban) and three new players (Will Hochman, David Green and Jeff Ermann).

In addition, the Tikvat roster includes Berger, Alan Sandler, Bruce Ginsburg, Marc Schneider, Damon Ehrlich, Fred Wagner, Mark Bardeski, Dan Haft, Neil Kram and David Blum.

"This is a full roster, but if there any TI members -- or even men with kids in the Hebrew School or Day Care -- who are significantly over 6 feet tall, we can squeeze them onto the team," Berger said. He can be reached at warren.berger@gmail.com.
