Waxman Waxes Nostalgic About Summer Camping.........posted Jul 19, 2007
Longtime Tikvat Israel member Shirley Waxman had the opportunity to recall what it was like to be part of the first Jewish summer camp in Northern Virginia.
She's a primary source in a front-page story in the July 19 issue of Washington Jewish Week titled "Happy campers once again; JCCNV 38th reunion triggers flood of emotions." Read the full account, including Shirley's recollections (

She attended the first reunion of Camp Achva recently.
About 125 former campers and staffers said the camp, founded in 1969 with 70 campers, played a key role in bringing together what was then a small and highly dispersed Jewish population in Washington's Virginia suburbs.
You can read Shirley Waxman's mini-profile in the About Us section.
