Congregants OK Budget, Hear Update on Land and Bricks.........posted Jun 12, 2007
Tikvat Israel members approved the synagogue's budget for 2007-08 at a congregational meeting on June 10.
The proposed budget was submitted to congregants following its adoption by the TI Board of Directors at its meeting on May 20. A new membership dues plan was included in the approval. Details about this are available from the synagogue office.
President Ronald Rabin outlined a series of capital improvements that will be made during the coming year. These include upgrades to the sanctuary funded by the highly successful M'Kom Torah fund-raising drive this spring. Improvements also will be made to some internal sites as well as landscaping, he said.
The congregational meeting also included updates on several major undertakings. Congregants learned that the sale of land behind the synagogue has been completed with construction on the site possibly beginning in late fall, according to Neil Newman, chair of the land sale committee.
Newman also said the first shipment of engraved bricks for the front patio, which have been inscribed with the names of TI members or their loved ones, was expected in the next several weeks with installation to follow. The next sale of bricks will take place following the High Holidays.
