Art Show at JCC Dominated by TI Talent.........posted Nov 17, 2007

Nine individuals affiliated with Congregation Tikvat Israel have artistic works that have been picked to appear in the Guild for Judaic Art?s show and sale, Nov. 18 through Dec. 27, at the Goldman Gallery in the Jewish Community Center of Greater Washington. The JCC is located at 6125 Montrose Road, Rockville.

The TI members whose artwork has been selected for the show are as follows: Avrum Ashery, painting and prints; Roz and Avi Feldman, machine embroidery; Bobbi Gorban, fiber arts; Tamah Graber, glass; Kate Jennes-Kahn, drawing and prints; Gale Pressman, jewelry and dolls; Cynthia Spritzer, brachot; and Shirley Waxman, fiber arts.

Other TI artists who are not participating in this show include: Susan Fullenbaum, glass; Melanie Grishman, fiber arts; Larry Levine, photography; and Cindy Renteria, painting.

"We seem to belong to a synagogue that attracts artists as members," Waxman said. "We must be doing something right that makes artistic people feel comfortable. Therefore, isn't it wonderful to support them?"
