Tall Talent Sought for Basketball Play at TI.........posted Nov 30, 2007

Tall timber need apply.

The Tikvat Israel men's basketball team, which is competing for the 11th season in the Montgomery County synagogue basketball league, needs a few new players to supplement its returning lineup.

League play involves games on Sunday mornings, January through March, at Magruder High School, starting at 8, 9 or 10 a.m. Games consist of two 22-minute halves with referees.

Contact Coach Warren Berger at warren.berger@gmail.com if you are interested in playing. Players must 18 or older and have a formal affiliation with Tikvat Israel - either as a member or have a child enrolled in the Early Childhood Center or the religious school at the synagogue. Collegians are permitted.

Berger says: "It seems that while most teams are getting younger and taller overall, we seem to be getting older and shorter! We usually finish near the bottom of the standings, but still have fun."

Returning players will be Berger, Marc Schneider, Bruce Ginsburg, Will Hochman, Fred Wagner, Damon Ehrlich, Mark Waldman, Dan Haft, Neil Kram and Lior Golan.

An opening practice is tentatively scheduled for Monday, Dec. 17 at 8 p.m. Contact Berger at warren.berger@gmail.com or 301-460-8736 to confirm.
