Basketball Squad Ready to Battle Other Congregations

Tikvat Israel's hoopsters are ready to hit the hardwood by competing for the 12th season in the Montgomery County Synagogue Men's Club Basketball League. Play begins in early January, and TI's coach seeks some new talent for his roster.

New Board Leadership Team Assumes Office at TI

Congregants at Tikvat Israel have ushered in new leadership, led by President Sam Freedenberg, to steer the enterprise. In uncontested elections on Dec. 21, a quorum of congregation members ratified a full slate of officers and board members, who assume office in January 2009.

Experience Israel at Tikvat Israel's 4th Annual Film Festival in January

Experience Israel from a unique perspective -- through the lens of award-winning Israeli-produced films. Join congregants from Tikvat Israel throughout the month of January for the synagogue's 4th annual Israeli Film Festival. Each film will be accompanied by stimulating discussion and dessert. The three films are Beaufort (2007), Jan. 17; The Band's Visit (2007), Jan. 24 and Movie Shorts from Tel Aviv University (2006) , Jan. 31. All three events start at 7:45 p.m.
