TI President Thanks Resigning Religious School Head.........posted Jul 1, 2008

Sandy Levine will leave her post in mid-August as director of education at Tikvat Israel Congregation. She has served for the past 11 years in this role.

Levine has accepted a teaching job with the Montgomery County Public Schools. Her resignation takes effect Aug. 11

In submitting her resignation, Sandy directed a message to the congregation, saying she was "humbled and proud that we serve as your partner in the formal Jewish education of your child. You and your children are very important to me. They bless us with their eager minds and enthusiasm. They are the very heart of our school. In them, we see the future of Judaism. ...

"You and your children have each been a blessing to me," she added. "I am grateful to each of you for your support, wisdom and insight over the years. May you go from strength to strength and receive blessings for all that you do."

In a statement to the congregation, TI Board President Ron Rabin said he regretted the resignation. "Sandy has built the religious school into one of the finest in Montgomery County," he said. "She has obtained grants and support for the school and risen to any challenge presented to her. She has led the teachers and students with her knowledge, wisdom, experience, and most importantly through her deeds and by example.

"Sandy is a valued member of our community. Please take a moment to thank her for her years of service and invaluable contribution to our community, and to wish her well in her career with the public schools."
