Congregation Members Get Inked in the Local Press.........posted May 15, 2008
Tikvat Israel members are landing in the pages of the local press.
Devotees of The Washington Post's Style Competition perhaps recognized some familiar names to congregants in the May 10 edition: Kathy Fraeman received an honorable mention in the weekly contest involving word play and Marleen May submitted what was judged to be the second-best entry overall. Marleen actually scored a hat trick as two more of her entries were given honorable mentions.
Said Marleen of her brief notoriety: "I don't know about Kathy, but I'm not going to give up my day (or night) job."
In addition, a Baltimore Sun feature titled "Israelis settle in Rockville and create flavor of home" mentioned Tikvat Israel and carried a photo of young congregant Micah Cowan, 10, during an Israeli dancing lesson in the social hall.
