Book Collection for African Jewry Still Garners Ink for Rabbi Gorin.........posted Feb 24, 2010

Rabbi Howard Gorin's ongoing efforts to funnel books on Jewish religion, history and culture into the hands of African Jews continues to gain attention in the news media.

The latest publicity appears in The Jewish Chronicle, a newspaper in Pittsburgh. The most recent issue carries a story with this headline: "Jewish books from suburban library may find home in Africa."

The accounts details how scores of Jewish books that have been stashed unused at the Jefferson Hills Library near Clairton, Pa., soon will be in the hands of our rabbi, who will ensure they find their way to Africa.

Rabbi Gorin has been redirecting Jewish books to Nigeria since 2004. He intends to drive to Pittsburgh in March to sort through and pick up the books. He learned about the collection of unusued works after reading on online story in The Jewish Chronicle.
