The synagogue board of directors has approved Tikvat Israel's rabbi search committee for the next year.
The 11-member committee is chaired by Shelly Goldin, who served as the congregation's president between 2003 and 2005 and since then as a board member of the Seaboard Region's Women's League of Conservative Judaism. Goldin was appointed by TI Board President Larry Gorban to oversee the committee's work.
Other members of the committee are:
- Dalit Baranoff
- Jeff Bernstein
- Brenda Brooks
- Elliot Cowan
- Kate Jennes-Kahn
- Ted Kram
- Ben Loving
- Jimmy Perlmutter
- Fred Wagner
- Judy Waldman
The group will have responsibilities for securing the services of an interim rabbi beginning in July 2012 and then a permanent appointment the following year.
Full details about the launch of the search process will be available in the January-February issue of the Tikvat Israel Bulletin, which will be available in electronic format on the TI website during the final week of December. "With cooperation of the U.S. Postal Service, the print issue ought to show up in congregants' mail during the first week of January," said Jay P. Goldman, acting editor of the Bulletin.
