The congregation voted Larry Gorban to serve a full term as Tikvat Israel president, while Rod Matheson, Carol Chelemer and Jonathan Solomon were selected as first, second and third vice presidents, respectively, for 2011. The voting by congregants -- including a rare contested election -- took place on Jan. 3.

Rabbi Howard Gorin has informed the Tikvat Israel Board of Directors that he intends to retire in June 2013 or June 2014. The rabbi announced his plans in a meeting with the governing board and a letter mailed in early January to all congregants.
