Tikvat Israel's men's softball team, competing in the 24-team Montgomery County Synagogue Softball League, won an exciting game against Temple Beth Ami early in the wet spring season, but the team hasn’t been able to supplement that success with other triumphs on the playing field.

Tikvat Israel Congregation maintains relationships with two area nursing homes, Potomac Valley in Rockville and Aspenwood in Silver Spring, where volunteers from the synagogue conduct religious services on Shabbat and help with holiday observances for the Jewish residents.

Members of Tikvat Israel approved a $1.36 million spending plan for 2011-12 at a congregational meeting on Monday, June 20, in the synagogue's sanctuary. The budget received almost total support from the quorum of congregants.
