Topic: Reading with Children
Speaker: Judith Stern, MA
Sharing books with children at home can build language skills, vocabulary and comprehension. Reading together is also a great means of creating emotional connections between children and family members. Learn how to help children use strategies to sound out unfamiliar words and how you can ask comprehension questions on a variety of cognitive levels. Do you want to know the meaning of lexile levels, decoding, phonological awareness, phonemic awareness, and phonics, when you hear them at a parent conference? For parents and relatives of pre-school through elementary school children.
About Our Speaker: Judith Stern, MA is an experienced classroom teacher, Reading Specialist and Special Educator. She is a national speaker and the co-author of four children’s books on learning and attention disorders, and one book for parents and teachers on dyslexia. She is an educational consultant in private practice in Rockville.
