Synagogue Volunteers Deliver Passover Foodstuffs to Shut-Ins
Volunteers from Tikvat Israel delivered bags of Passover foods to appreciative recipients on the Sunday prior to the holiday.
The delivery volunteers from our shul were Brenda Brooks, Robbi Cohen, Roberta Cohen, Ellen and Sherman Eisner, Marsha and Art Fabel, Robin and Stan Hein, Julie Mazur, Dylan Presman and Rich Nisenson. Their efforts were organized by Moira and Leon Green.
The shopping bags were filled with non-perishable Passover foods — matzah, matzah meal, matzah ball soup, horseradish, wine, candy, etc. The food deliveries, an annual rite known as Project H.O.P.E., were organized by B’nai Brith and the Jewish Social Service Agency. They raised sufficient funds to make deliveries this year to home of 500 shut-ins. Students from the Berman Hebrew Academy in Rockville assembled the bags.
“We had an abundance of volunteers offering to participate in this mitzvah, and we thank them all,” Moira Green said.
